Scripting a Renewable Future

  • 10.02.2023

  • 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

  • ITC Maurya, New Delhi, India

Rising GHG emissions are posing a severe threat to environmental sustainability, biodiversity of the planet, and people’s lives and livelihoods. There is unprecedented momentum for transitioning from traditional clean energy. Today, it is a watershed opportunity for governments and private-sector corporations to collaborate, reset and re-direct future investments and operational strategies in the energy sector. Experts believe by making sustainability the core of its energy transformation agenda, India can not only become self-sufficient in clean energy but also emerge as a global leader in this space.

Against this backdrop, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy in partnership with Business Today, organised an event ‘Scripting a Renewable Future’.

Shri. R.K. Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy kindly agreed to grace the event with his presence and addressed the distinguished gathering of thought leaders and stakeholders from the clean energy space.

To facilitate a steady transition to green energy, the Centre announced a slew of measures on this Budget, that will catapult the country’s green revolution by promoting sustainable living. FM’s Saptarishi Budget had an allocation of Rs 10,222 crore to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), a 45% hike from the Rs 7,033 crore expected to be spent this fiscal year. But is this policy push enough to enable a smooth transition?

The energy transition is only one of the many challenges that India needs to address in its journey to becoming a developed nation by 2047, and there is a significant disparity across states that needs to be addressed as well. All these challenges will require investment resources, mostly in the public sector although some will also be needed by the private sector. How critical is the role of finance in India's energy transition toward a green, renewable, and sustainable future? N Ramesh, Deputy MD, India Exim Bank answers here at Business Today & Sterling and Wilson's #RenewableEnergySummit.
